Roof, Part Two

The roofers did eventually leave, but there were a few little things that remained undone. When I called today to inquire when those would be finished, I was told that the roofers had gotten a late start yesterday because they had gone to the wrong address and started tearing off an unrelated person’s roof. This morning, their first order of business was to repair that person’s roof, and then they would be back by my house to finish mine.

About this incident, I was told, “it happens.”

DOES IT???

It seems like it would not! It seems like a rather easy thing to avoid, first of all, and b of all, it seems like if it ever did happen, it would certainly only happen once. It’s emphatically someone else’s problem, so it’s no skin off my nose, but as a manager myself, I can’t help but marvel at this. I guess my team and I do sometimes make similar mixups, but the nice thing about software is there are few mistakes you can’t undo, whereas it’s not possible to revert a roof to an earlier version.

Haha construction. Hated by most inhabitants until it’s over. Then they love us.

Very true! The roof looks gorgeous now that it’s done.
